2-4-1

Hey, super tired so doing a quick

The eagle eyed will spot that I missed yesterday. Thing is I had a horrible day at work, then just felt like coming home, drinking vodka and playing with makeup. So I did.

I did however forget to blog it. Soz!

So this evening the lovely Hugsand and I went to a pub to meet new rpg friends in Bristol who are looking to set up a Bristol convention. Exciting!

But first we had dinner in a lovely pub called Horts. I couldn't decide what to have so the Hugsand helped me with some severe menu-based concentration!

I had a burger, it was lush.

So that's me, glad it's the weekend, wee but tipsy. Huzzah!

Love and kisses,

H.

Ps, have you seen sprinkle of glitter yet? If not, GO NOW!!!

Tiny feminist victory

So again I worked overtime and am stupidly tired today. Anyhoo, it's time for....

Hooray!

So I'm a pretty outspoken feminist, and it kind of gets me down that in my office a lot of people will dismiss what I'm saying as me 'being feminist' as if it wasn't the single most important principle in my life. I have to 'agree to disagree' with people who have't looked at the facts as much as I have and get quite cross with me when I tell them what the actual statistics are. So when my boss came in with magnetic letters for funsies (yeah ok, my office is pretty fun most of the time!) I knew just what to do...

Well, we soon had to clear the board for sensible work related stuff, so I moved my little sign to the window by my desk.

Over the last 2 days, some clever-dick has been messing with it. Yesterday I noticed it said 'psmash the matriarchy' with an upside-down 'w' as the m. Clever, right? So I changed it back and removed the w.

Then today after lunch I spotted that it said 'spash the matriarchy'. Honestly? They're not even trying. So I paid a visit to my boss for a letter exchange and fixed it.

That's right. I got intersectional on their arse. Oh yeah. Of course now I have to explain what a kyriarchy is several times a day, but that should get me pretty comfortable explaining it which can only be a good thing.

In case you're wondering....

So that's that fixed. I suppose it just bothers me that rather than engage me in conversation, someone thought they'd change it because 'it's just Helen being feminist' rather than the very least I can do in expressing my deeply held beliefs about some fundamental inequalities in our culture.

I remember someone being amazed I could argue about feminism when I was tired because they assumed it took a lot of energy. I tried to explain that actually it takes energy for me not to say something when people show prejudice and ignorance. To be clear, if I show either of those things I expect to be called out on them and I'm getting better at being gracious about it (humility is hard mind!). I was told by a colleague who met my family while we were all drunk (30th birthday) that we were all 'hard work' as we won't let this shit go. Frankly, I'd rather be hard work than betray my own principles.

Well that got serious didn't it?

If the sign changes again I'll be sure to update you!

Love and kisses,

H.

Once again, many thanks to the stunning sprinkle of glitter who appears to be joining the ranks of the rainbow haired. Yes Louise.... JOIN US....

Tiredface

A very short

today.

So today I was super tired, I worked 3 hours overtime as work has become manic (end of the bloody quarter innit?) and then walked nearly 3 miles home at which point my lovely Hugsand came and picked me up. I took a quick snap of the park I'd just walked through as I waited for him.

Pretty innit? Lovely and restful.

Anyhoo,

Love and kisses,

H.

Ps, everyone in the world should read sprinkle of glitter

because it is super happy-making. Huzzah!

I got my mojo working (well, I played guitar)

So, another

So exciting!

So today the lovely Hugsand is working late (boo!) so I thunked I'd play a little geetar.

Why yes, that is a fluffy orange strap held on with a pink sparkly headscarf that I bought in the late nineties. And what of it?

Anyhoo....

Before we bought this house about 2 months ago we lived next door to some really horrible people who complained about noise all the time.

Now I know it's no fun to live next door to a party house, but we're by no means that! We would get banging on the wall for 2 people sitting in the front room talking, or sometimes if I blew my nose early in the morning. Like, 7-ish when people are getting up for work.

So it's gorgeous to come home to our end terrace where not only do we have nice neighbours, I can sit in a room that doesn't connect to anyone else's house and properly play!

I still can't let rip as the old neighbours really destroyed my confidence, but I'll get there! Hoorah!

Maybe I'll link to some of the recording we've done in a bit, just building myself up.....

Love and kisses,

H.

Ps, I once again show unwavering gratitude to sprinkle of glitter for getting me blogging. She's proper awesome

Shopping!

So, here we are again for another

Now I know I missed a few days, but I've had a super stinky stomach bug (ooh, alliteration!) and felt like poop. Today I was kind of ok, and the lovely Hugsand and I went to B&Q to get a garden spade and fork, and a sledgehammer! A sledgehammer! We have concrete to break up. In any event, there was a boots in the retail park and I may have snuck in and got these things that I've been wanting for a while.

Lovely, no? That's the expert face brush by Real Texhniques, and some hydraluron by indeed. Google them, both brilliant apparently. So I'm super excited for my face!

So off I go to beddybyes.

Love and kisses,

H.

I'm back!

So, I may have missed a few days due to being in Amsterdam and not having proper interwebs. Anyhoo, here we go.

I thought I'd do a few snaps to show what it was like over there.

Delicious delicious beer while we wait for toasted sandwiches after wandering around for 3 hours!

New dice! Well, one anyhoo. See, we were at a tabletop rpg con and we got themed dice! Funsies!

Fresh mint tea to sort out digestion after all the beer and toasties!

Sign on the men's bathroom. I know it doesn't ACTUALLY say Helen, but still confusing for me!

A stork sitting on our friend's neighbour's porch. Random mind!

Any ideas what this fella's doing?

Brilliant light fitting downstairs in the venue for convention. Really want one!

Hope that gives you some idea anyhoo!

Love and kisses,

H.

Amsterdam agogo!

Lame, I know. Anyhoo, it's that time again!

Actually it's past that time, but I count this time in the morning as still yesterday, hence I win.

So we've just walked a mile (at least!) with luggage to the bus stop to go to the airport to go to Amsterdam! Huzzah!

We're going to Condamned, a tabletop rpg convention in, wait for it, Amsterdam! See! Con-DAMNED! See what they did there?

Anyhoo, hoping for super-fun games, catching up with people and such. A lovely gentleman who we've met at various cons in England is putting us up so hopefully this'll be really nice.

Good Grief, I really can ramble sometimes. Here's the link in any event.

Live and kisses,

H.

Ps, as ever, all credit goes to sprinkle of glitter for the picture idea.

Food. Delicious food.

Had a day of food today. So here's 2 pictures of food for my

Firstly, a member of my team at work got cakes. Ice cream cupcakes. Check it out.

Yes it was good, and yes it made me feel sick.

Then I couldn't be arsed to make dinner so I had a fried egg sammitch instead. I used my small cast iron pan and used TWO EGGS!!!! Oh yeah.

Utter filth. And yes I'm in my jimjams. What of it?

So that's me.

Love and kisses,

H.

Still illface

Oh noes! Another illface day.

As I'm so pathetic my lovely lovely Hugsand went out and got me my favourite sugary fizz. It is super sweet and delicious. I've considered buying a whole crate before, but that would ruin the thrill of looking for it in all corner shops.

So I shall finish this and off to beddybyes.

Live and kisses,

H.

Ps, as ever, all the props in the world to A Sprinkle of Glitter for the inspiration behind these posts.

Illface

I totally missed yesterday's

We had some people over, but I forgot to take photos, then felt properly ill so went to bed. Still feeling pretty crappy today so I'm afraid the snap today is just this.

That's Droopy. I've had him since I was about 8 I think, and he was second hand then. Anyhoo, hoping he'll make me feel all better with his cutesy face.

N'night

Love and kisses

H.

PS, this is of course all inspired by the excellent

I done makeup!

Once again my lovelies

As inspired by

So anyhoo, I had a lush day. Had a relaxing bath, then lay in the sun for hours like a cat.

Needless to say this wasn't a great opportunity to take photos so what you have is a picture of myself after messing around with makeup. I asked my other half whether to do natural, fancy, sexy or creative. He said sexy and this is what he got.

I'm ok with that I suppose.

Live and kisses,

H.

Noooooo curtains!

Another day,  another pikcher!

Once again, if you're confused then this lovely lady will explain all

Today I was super busy and forgot to take pictures, but the lovely Hugsand put up the new curtains while I was at work!

I know, not the most fascinating thing, but I really like them.

Anyhoo,

Live and kisses,

H.

Silly husband-face

Yet another snap.

As inspired by

Having recently moved we have a room full of boxes, and as we have family staying tomorrow night we needed to get them in the loft. However, we don't have a stepladder to get up there so my ever-loving spouse decided to do this.

while I seriously panicked about him falling. He didn't, thank goodness, but I wasn't entirely impressed to say the least!

Oh well.

Love and kisses

H.

Fancy film-type-going

Another snap! Huzzah!

Still going strong on the 30 day snap as per her ladyship, sprinkle of glitter

Tonight, I see'd a film!

I'd never seen a film in 3D and I had been faithfully promised that The Great Gatsby could be my first as I love the book (and the Robert Redford film), and I love Baz Luhrmann films. Unfortunately, my beloved and I are super disorganised and missed it everywhere except the showcase cinema in town, where it was being shown in the directors hall! So it was ridiculously expensive, but we had comfy seats, a free lemonade (with lemon slice, no messin') and free popcorn!

Oh, and the film was glorious. Loved it completely.

Love and kisses,

H.

I walked 500 miles...

Well, 5 miles actually. But I'm super unfit so I think that's pretty impressive!

On my way, while enjoying the glorious sunshine, I was searching for a subject for my 30 day snap post, as dreamed up by the glorious Sprinkle of Glitter

I walked along the harbour, across bridges, through parks, but my favourite snap was this.

*snorts*

Love and kisses,

I love orange!!!

So, the lovely Hugsand and I have been unpacking a box given that we have a room full of them and four people coming to stay next weekend! We found many half burned candles, lots of rubbish, and these!

Proper beauties ain't they? I've had them for probably 9 years and I never tire of them. They give bugger all relief from the sun (well, very little but forgive a little hyperbole), but damn they look cool! Also they're orange, a colour I love so much I got married in it.

I had recently been bemoaning the fact that I can't get away with the lush fifties shapes that are around at the mo, but I feel like these are my consolation.

By the way, if you're not aware then the 30 day snap thing is the brainchild of the lovely sprinkle of glitter, here, look.

Love and kisses,

H.

Trying to blog

So I follow this gorgeous blog, http://sprinkleofglitter.blogspot.com/ which makes me super happy in a gentle fluffy kind of way. She suggested something called 30 day snap.

It's basically taking a picture of your life every day in June. I'm not amazing at self discipline so thought this might help me get some blogging mojo going.

So here I go, my husband and I recently bought a house and found a woodland walk within 10 minutes walk of our, very suburban, street. It's lovely. So this morning we went for a walk and found the yellowest mushroom I've ever seen! I presume it's poisonous, but it ain't half pretty!

So, that's a start, lucky it's such a gorgeous day to be fair.....

Love and kisses,

H.
